True Bride Genesis & Jason

True bride Genesis and Jason

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re sharing the love story of True Bride Genesis and Jason, from an unexpected first meeting to their beautiful wedding day in Colorado.

Genesis and Jason’s story began at a local In-N-Out, where a mutual friend group encounter eventually turned into a love story and a celebration surrounded by the people and traditions most meaningful to them.

For her walk down the aisle, Genesis wore Essense of Australia Style D4158 from True Society in Mesa. The strapless basque waist ballgown was the perfect fit for her Colorado celebration and the start of her new chapter with Jason.

Read on to discover Genesis and Jason’s love story, her journey to finding THE dress and all of the special details that made their wedding uniquely theirs.

GENESIS, TELL US ABOUT YOUR PARTNER. HOW DID YOU MEET?

Jason and I like to say we met at a swing dancing college night event. But in reality, we met after the event in the In-N-Out parking lot our mutual friend groups went to. We played duck, duck, goose as an icebreaker for our whole group and talked the whole night after meeting.

WHAT WAS YOUR PROPOSAL LIKE?

We had been dating for three and a half years when Jason proposed. We were in Japan with my little sister; it was a graduation gift to her for finishing high school with honors and getting a full ride to college. I did not know he was planning on asking me, and he had only told my sister the day before his plans.

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING.

We got married in Jason’s hometown of Delta, Colorado; a new venue had opened, and it turns out his dad knew the owner!

We both didn’t want anything big or fancy, but had so much support from family and friends; his aunt is a wedding cake baker and gifted us our wedding cake, and an old college buddy offered his photography services as well. We had Olive Garden as our food since it was where we went on our first date.

But what really made the night fun was the games we had planned. We had team captains represent each table for the games; we played musical chairs and had a scavenger hunt as well.

As I am of Hispanic descent, we had some Mexican candies for our guests and had traditional Spanish songs playing. I used my wedding dress as if it were a vestido folklórico and danced as if I were doing a baile folklórico.

DESCRIBE YOUR BRIDAL STYLE.

I am of Hispanic descent, and I did not get a quinceañera due to financial issues with my family when I was young. I wanted a big, puffy and sparkly dress for my wedding to make up for not getting that quinceañera.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR DRESS SHOPPING EXPERIENCE AT TRUE SOCIETY.

I was nervous and anxious ahead of my first dress shopping appointment because my mom could not make it. The True Crew made my appointment feel like a dream come true. They listened to all of my wants and dreams and paid attention to the details of the inspiration pictures I showed her.

The first dress I tried on was my dream dress, but I was still anxious about making a quick decision. The True Crew helped me try on more dresses, but I knew my eyes were still fixed on the first dress.

I put the first dress on again, and I tried on a veil and held flowers, and I knew I had to get that dress. I felt beautiful, excited, and knew that this dress was going to be the dress I say “I do” in.

My dream dress was from True Society, and I recommend all future brides try on dresses there, too!

HOW DID YOU FEEL IN YOUR GOWN ON YOUR WEDDING DAY?

The day of my wedding, as I was doing my makeup, I was getting more and more excited to see the whole look come together. My little sister helped me into the wedding dress and laced me up. When I did a first look with my bridesmaids, my sister bawled her eyes seeing me. Seeing myself, I realized I was about to walk down the aisle and say “I do” looking like a princess.

HOW DID YOUR PARTNER REACT WHEN THEY SAW YOU IN YOUR WEDDING DRESS?

The day of our wedding, I could see Jason holding back tears as I walked down the aisle. Holding his hands made it feel like it was just us two up there.
