Real True Society Bride Katie + Matt

Our True Society bride Katie shared her stunning photos from her downtown Kansas City nuptials, and we’re absolutely in love! Her wedding’s minimal urban decor let in the perfect amount of natural lighting and added a fresh, modern touch to her intimate wedding. True Bride Katie wore Essense of Australia Style D2840, a delicate, bohemian A-line. Read all about her sweet, city proposal and swoon over how STUNNING she looked in her wedding photos – congrats to this gorgeous couple!

Tell us about your proposal…

Matt proposed in January. We grabbed lunch at the Webster House then walked up to the Kauffman Center. There is this incredible skyline view of Kansas City. It was FREEZING cold, so I knew something was up, but when Matt proposed, it was perfect. We celebrated afterward with family and friends.

How did you know that Essense of Australia Style D2840 was the one?

I honestly had no idea what I wanted when I started looking for my wedding dress, but I knew the most important part to me would be the small details. My dress shopping experience at True Society Belle Vogue Lenexa was incredible. My stylist was very patient as I tried to narrow it down! I chose Style D2840 because it was classic, comfortable, and FUN.

We love River Market! What was your wedding theme like?

We wanted a small wedding, which was very fitting for 2020. We didn’t really have a color scheme, but since the dresses and suits were neutral, I asked our florist to bring in some colors like blue, green, orange and yellow to brighten up the space. River Market was the perfect venue, as we had previously gone on a date there, so it was really special to get married there.

OK, your first look was so cute…

That was my favorite moment of the day by far!! I remember thinking all morning how excited I was to see Matt, because honestly, I hated spending the morning of the most important day of our lives apart. Seeing him at the first look brought me so much relief and joy!

How did you personalize your wedding experience?

The pastor that officiated our wedding is a lifelong friend and actually the one who introduced me and Matt! It was so wonderful to have them there with us from the beginning of our love story up to our wedding day. And our photographer was amazing! To personalize our wedding photos, Matt and I took pictures at Anton’s, which is where our first date was.
