Gowns for Good – Giving Back to Local Heroes 

At True Society, we believe in giving back to the communities where our brides live, work and dream – and for brides-to-be, that dream includes a dream wedding dress.  

That’s why our True Crew is ready to help make those dreams a reality at our upcoming Gowns for Good event where we’ll be giving away more than 150 wedding dresses to local community heroes.

For more than 10 years, True Society has given back by giving away hundreds of free wedding gowns to Kansas City military personnel and their fiancés to recognize and thank them for their sacrifice and bravery. This year, we’re expanding the event to also honor hospital workers and their fiancés, to show our appreciation for keeping our communities safe during the pandemic.

WHY: Every bride deserves to feel beautiful on their special day, which is why we want to give our local heroes the wedding dress of their dreams to show our appreciation for keeping our communities safe. Gowns for Good is our way of saying “thank you” for their incredible service, sacrifice and bravery.

HOW: Call us at (913) 317-8981 (Lenexa store) or (816) 293-4844 (Kansas City store) to book your 30-minute appointment. Eligible brides must present their current military or hospital ID or their future spouse’s military or hospital ID at the time of their appointment.

About the Event

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT FOR GOWNS FOR GOOD? 

Give us a call at (913) 317-8981 (Lenexa store) or (816) 293-4844 (Kansas City store) to book your 30-minute appointment. An expert stylist will gather a bit of information from you and help you select the appointment time that will work best for you! 

WHY ARE YOU HOSTING THIS EVENT? 

True Society believes in giving back to the communities where our brides live, work and dream. For more than 10 years, True Society has given back by giving away hundreds of free wedding gowns to Kansas City military personnel and their fiancés to recognize and thank them for their sacrifice and bravery. This year, we’re expanding the event to also honor hospital workers and their fiancés, to show our appreciation for keeping our communities safe during the pandemic. 

ARE YOU REALLY GIVING AWAY FREE WEDDING GOWNS? 

Yes! The gown is free and will be given at no cost to members of the military, hospital workers and/or their future spouses to thank our community members for their sacrifice and service. You don’t need to do anything but call, make an appointment and bring your or your fiancé’s military or hospital ID to your appointment!  
 
Available dresses are samples that may have been tried on in-store. All available gowns have been checked to ensure the quality and integrity of the gown remains.   

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? 

To qualify for your free wedding gown, please come prepared with your or your fiancé’s current valid military or hospital identification. 

IF I AM A MILITARY BRIDE OR HOSPITAL WORKER BUT I AM UNABLE TO ATTEND MY APPOINTMENT, CAN I SEND SOMEBODY ELSE TO GET A DRESS FOR ME? 

Yes! If you are sending someone to find a dress for you, please make sure they come prepared with: 
– A copy of your or your fiancé’s military or hospital ID 
– Your bust, waist, and hip measurements in inches (So that one of our expert stylists can help find the perfect size dress for you!) 

WHO IS CONSIDERED AN ELIGIBLE MEMBER OF THE MILITARY?  

An eligible member of the military is someone who is currently serving or has served in the military and has a valid military ID.  

ARE VETERANS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE? 

Yes, veterans can participate.   

WHO IS CONSIDERED AN ELIGIBLE HOSPITAL WORKER? 

An eligible hospital worker is someone who worked on the frontlines at an area hospital during the pandemic and has a valid hospital ID.    

I WORK AT A CLINIC OWNED BY THE HOSPITAL. CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE?  

Yes, if you or your significant other have a valid hospital ID, you can participate.  

IF I AM UNABLE TO COME IN FOR THE EVENT, CAN I BOOK A GOWNS FOR GOOD APPOINTMENT ON ANOTHER DAY? 

Gowns for Good is a once-a-year event where we receive a specific stock of gowns from our designers that we can gift to our brides. Once the event is over, these gowns will no longer be in our possession, so appointments can only be made for the two days of the event! 

I CAN’T BRING A PHYSICAL ID ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT. CAN I TAKE A PHOTO TO BRING INSTEAD?  

Yes, we can accept a photo of the I.D. if necessary.   

WHAT SIZES ARE AVAILABLE?  

Our sample dresses will be available in a variety of sizes.  

Appointments

HOW LONG IS MY APPOINTMENT? 

Appointments during our Gowns for Good event are 30 minutes long. This will be enough time for your personal stylist to help you select a few gowns in your size and style, try them on, and say “I Do” to a beautiful dress that you can take home with you that day! 

WHY IS THE APPOINTMENT ONLY 30 MINUTES LONG? 

Our appointments are set for 30 minutes to ensure that we are able to help as many brides as possible find their dream gown.  

CAN I TAKE MY DRESS THAT DAY? 

Yes, you will be required to take your dress that day.   

CAN I HAVE A LONGER APPOINTMENT? OR CAN I STAY LONGER IF I NEED MORE TIME? 

Appointments are only set for 30 minutes, and stylists will be fully booked throughout the days of the event- but trust us, our staff is full of expert stylists who will have no trouble helping you find your gown in that 30-minute slot! 

WILL I STILL HAVE A STYLIST WORKING WITH ME DURING MY APPOINTMENT? 

Yes! From the moment you walk through our doors to the moment you load your beautiful gown into your car, a member of our True Crew will be assisting you every step of the way. 

DO I SET UP AN ADDITIONAL APPOINTMENT WITH YOU FOR ALTERATIONS? 

We do not have an in-house seamstress; however, all of our True Brides will leave with a list of our top-recommended seamstresses to help make your dream gown even more perfect! 

HOW MANY GUESTS CAN I BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT? 

A maximum of two guests can be brought to the appointment.   

Products/Assortment

CAN I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT FOR A DIFFERENT DAY TO PREVIEW THE SELECTION TO PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT OR SELECT A GOWN FROM THE WEBSITE? 

During our Gowns for Good event, we receive special gowns from our designers that they allow us to gift to our military and hospital brides entirely free of charge. Because these gowns are brought in especially for this event, they will be different from the selection of gowns we have available the rest of the year. Because of this, there will be no shopping appointments available prior to the days of the event. 

WILL YOU HAVE ACCESSORIES? WHAT ABOUT BRIDESMAID GOWNS? 

We will have a select assortment of discounted accessories and bridesmaid gowns available for purchase during this event so you can complete your bridal look! You are welcome to browse accessories during your 30-minute appointment. If you would prefer to come back for a personalized accessory shopping experience, we encourage you to book an Accessory Appointment with us for a later date. One of our expert stylists would be happy to help you find the perfect sparkly goodies from our accessory collections to help complete your bridal look!
