Frequently Asked Questions

When should I buy my wedding dress?

We recommend starting the wedding dress shopping process nine months to one year prior to your wedding date, so you can avoid rush fees and enjoy the experience!

Do you offer alterations at your Grand Rapids bridal shop?

No, we do not offer alterations in-store and are happy to provide you with a list of recommended seamstresses.

When can I expect my wedding dress to be ready?

It takes approximately four to six months for a wedding dress to arrive, depending on the designer. Please take this into consideration when scheduling your appointment. Once your gown arrives, you should also allow six to eight weeks for alterations before the wedding.

For bridesmaid dresses, plan to allow three to four months for shipping and one to two months for alterations.

If you are working within a shorter time frame, please call our bridal shop at (616) 574-2802 and we can discuss other options with you.

Can I bring children to my bridal appointment?

We want to make sure the bride gets all the attention on this special day! For this reason, we encourage you to keep guests to adults only.

How customizable are your wedding dresses?

We have several accessories available to help customize your wedding dress. If you’re looking for even more customization, our Martina Liana and Martina Liana Luxe wedding dresses offer the ability to customize to your liking.

What size wedding dresses do you have in store? Do you carry plus size gowns?

We carry more than 40 plus-size wedding dresses, ranging up to a size 28 for you to try on in-store. Many of our gowns are available to order up to a size 34.

Our custom designed, spacious fitting rooms give you the confidence and comfort to be yourself and the queen that you are. We provide world class service and attention to detail at every turn. True Society exclusively carries international, award-winning designs from Essense of Australia, Stella York, Martina Liana, Martina Liana Luxe, All Who Wander, Oxford Street, and bridesmaid label, Sorella Vita. Chic, classic, boho, ballgown…the list goes on. So many styles for all of the fabulous shapes and sizes of a True Bride or bridesmaid.

Where can I find parking for the bridal shop?

Parking is available in the lot on the North side of the building.

Do you carry bridesmaid dresses?

Yes, we are a proud retailer of Sorella Vita and carry a wide range of sizes (up to size 28) and colors from which to choose.

Do you carry bridal accessories at your Grand Rapids bridal shop?

Yes! From veils to bridal jackets, jewelry, belts and hair accessories–we offer a wide variety of bridal accessories to pair with any wedding dress you choose. We have everything you need to create a personalized wedding day look to complement your personal style, and our stylists are happy to help you choose the right accessories for your wedding dress at your appointment.
