My husband Ivan and I knew each other for a couple of years before we started dating, since we worked in the same city very close to each other. The proposal was on an island called Dugi Otok in Croatia in front of a lighthouse with the most romantic sunset ever.

I was looking for a lightweight princess dress. It had to be romantic and match the wedding location, as we got married by the sea in a harbor city.

Our traditional Croatian wedding involved meeting the guests, walking to the church, and celebrating a big, long party. Our first dance was to the song Kada ljubav dvije duše spoji, which means “when love brings two souls together,” from the band Klapa Rišpet.
