True Bride Katie & Lane

Groom kissing bride in the aisle of a church surrounded by wedding guests.

Katie and Lane’s love story is one for the books! Both raised on farms in central-western Kansas, they first crossed paths in the summer of 2016. Despite spending much of their relationship long-distance, their bond stayed strong. After 5 ½ years of dating, they closed the distance and Lane proposed on a romantic vineyard, kicking off their beautiful journey to forever.

Katie stunned in her classic and oh-so-chic gown, Oxford Street PA1220, which caught her eye during her bridal appointment at True Society by Belle Vogue Bridal in Kansas City. A dreamy pearl-adorned veil completed her beautiful bridal look.

The couple’s wedding day was a timeless celebration filled with joy, love and unforgettable memories. Check it out!

KATIE, TELL US ABOUT YOUR PARTNER.  HOW DID YOU MEET?

Lane and I were born and raised in central-western Kansas on a farm. We met in the summer of 2016 and have been together ever since. Most of our relationship was long-distance, either when I was in high school, and Lane was in college or when I attended Kansas State University and Lane was in Pharmacy School in Oklahoma.

Once Lane graduated with his Doctor of Pharmacy, we finally lived in the same town after 5 1/2 years of long-distance dating. Six months later, Lane got down on one knee the day before Thanksgiving at Liquid Art Winery in Manhattan, Kansas.

The engagement was romantic, as it was just the two of us and a hidden photographer. After we got engaged, we drove 2 1/2 hours home for Thanksgiving and had a steak dinner with our parents and siblings.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR DRESS SHOPPING EXPERIENCE AT TRUE SOCIETY! WHAT DID YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WORKING WITH OUR TRUE CREW?

Right when I walked into True Society by Belle Vogue Bridal in Kansas City, I immediately felt welcomed by the True Crew. They had so much insight and knowledge, which I truly appreciated throughout my experience. My bridal stylist suggested I try every style, so I would have a better idea of what I wanted. I came in wanting a very classy and timeless look, but I am glad I tried on all styles, so I didn’t have any second thoughts. Honestly, once you try on THE dress, you just know! My gown, Oxford Street PA1220, came in even earlier than expected, which was wonderful.

DESCRIBE YOUR BRIDAL STYLE.

I knew before entering the True Society store that my bridal style was timeless and classy! My wedding colors were black, gold, silver and white.

I wanted pearls – that was a priority of mine when dress shopping! When you find THE dress, you will always feel beautiful, but when it is your wedding day and you officially put the dress on, as for me, I have never felt more beautiful. It is truly a magical feeling.

IN YOUR OWN WORDS, TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING.

We decided to have a first look and are SO GLAD we did it! Lane was not surprised that I had a very classy dress, since that was our wedding style.

We got married in the St. Isidore’s Catholic Church, the day before New Year’s Eve. We were very lucky to get 55-degree sunny weather on our wedding day- this is rare in Kansas in December! The Christmas decorations were also still up and it was just stunning!

My childhood Priest married us, which was so special since he played a huge role in my childhood. After the wedding, we had a party bus with our wedding party which made it fun and easy to get pictures at some of our favorite spots. We had 400 guests attend our wedding ceremony and reception. Our wedding reception was at the K-State Alumni Center. It was truly a party! The dance floor was always full.
Not only did we have our wedding day, but we encouraged our guests to stay for New Year’s Eve! We rented out a bar in Aggieville, Kansas so we had an extra day to celebrate with our loved ones!

Our most special memories were having all of our favorite people together in one spot, watching us get married and celebrating our love.

Cheers to Katie and Lane!
